Magickal Thorns...

Magicakal thorns feature in fairy tales, such as the thorns that surrounded Sleeping Beauty's castle... And, the thorns that scratched the prince's eyes in Rapunzel. Actually, there is some basis in fact to thorns surrounding a castle. Old World roses were planted around castles in ancient times so that the thorns would offer some protection. And, those bushes grew so tall and dense that, after a while, the roses began making wood, like trees.

Blackthorn bushes grow in the British Isles, and they are very long and sharp, sometimes three inches long!...
