A Small Excerpt From "Bad Ass: Living And Spells" ~ Beginner, ~ (Why Don't My Spells Work?)...

· WHY DON'T MY SPELLS WORK???... WHAT'S GOING ON HERE???... I'M SO FRUSTRATED!!!... I understand. I want to tell you something you won't find in many books, or hear very often, and I want to tell you as honestly yet, as lovingly as I can... You can't start at the top of witchcraft and work down and then expect your magick to be a success. Many people don't realize that spells are advanced magick. Doing spells without first acquiring a basic foundation in witchcraft is often totally useless. WHAT???... WHY, you might ask... Because, frankly, you don't know what you're doing. Doing a spell is not like following a food recipe. Whether you are a believer in goddesses and gods or not, --- it is for SURE that something or someone oversees magick. (It's not hard to figure this out.) Sooo... May I be blunt?... You can't ever make the magick of witchcraft your servant; you certainly can't press it into granting your many various wishes, --- and you can't even get a reasonable amount of power UNLESS you have some basic knowledge of magick... When, a person, a beginner, learns witchcraft as they should, gradually and carefully, from the basics to the more advanced, they tend to realize this as they practice, and with that realization hopefully, comes wisdom, as it should be. So, what DO you do if you're a beginner and you still feel you desperately need to do a spell?... (Well, I CERTAINLY wouldn't recommend hiring someone to do it for you, and risk getting scammed, or paying enormously!) You CAN try to do the spell yourself, of course, and hope it works. Perhaps, it will... (Many spells don't work quickly, but if your spell doesn't work in 27 days, 3 x 9, it's probably not going to.) Or, you can do what I usually do, --- pray humbly to a goddess or god, or, to the spirits that be, or to the universe; place your problem, in much, much, much stronger and wiser "hands". (Don't forget to leave a small offering, and your warm and heartfelt thanks.) And, in the meantime, work diligently at learning the basics of the Craft, --- grounding and centering (which also has to do with developing a mature attitude toward the Craft, not expecting instant gratification), learn meditation, how to direct energy and shield yourself, do rituals, keep a grimoire and learn to write your own spells (not just borrow them from others), learn about the phases of the moon the use of crystals and tools, candles, herbs, potions, make garb, learn about the esbats and sabbats, gods and goddesses (If you wish.),etc.; it can be very satisfying.
